  • Position: Faculty General Anesthesiologist
  • Job Number: TN
  • City/State: Memphis, TN
  • Certification and Licensure: BC by ABA and Eligible for TN State Medical Licensure
  • Facility: Level 1 Trauma Center & High-Risk OB
    • Six different sites within the structure: Day Surgery, Main OR, Trauma OR (4), Burn OR (2), GI suites, and L&D 
  • Support Staff: 45 CRNAs + 13 residents 
  • Census: 10,000 surgical cases per year
  • Case Mix: Ortho, Complex Ortho, Trauma, OB, Regional, Burn, ENT, Urology, Oncology, Breast Surgery, General Surgery, Neuro, Complex Spine, Robotics
    • No Pediatrics, Total Joints, Eyes, Cardiac, or Complex Neuro
  • Schedule: 16 X 10-hour shifts/mo., with overtime pay for every hour over 10 hours.
    • Hours: Most OR’s run 7a – 5p.
    • Trauma and OB are 24/7 operations with 12-hour shifts (7a-7p, 7p-7a).
    • All attendings work some night shifts. Ideal state is one night per week, one weekend per month. Also, option to work some 24-hour shifts.
    • Current average: 2 nights/week + 1.5 weekends/mo.
    • Post night shift is day off
  • Call Schedule: Included in the 16 shifts
    • Trauma and OB are 12-hour shifts; overtime is paid for the last two hours of each call shift at the department standard EDP rate of $250/hr. 
  • Medical Direction: 1:2 for residents, 1:4 max with all CRNA.
    • Very few solo cases, but some are possible
  • Academics: Four lectures per year. Day-to-day teaching, evaluations, committees, etc.  Paid stipend to teach by state of Tennessee
  • EMR: Cerner
  • Health and Welfare Package: Full university benefit package. Faculty appointment commensurate with experience. 20 annual PTO days (Based on 16 X 10-hour shifts/mo.), CME allowance up to $2,500.
